Knowing what to expect after your procedure makes the recovery straightforward. Here is a clear outline of what is involved.

The Day of Surgery

We will apply a wound dressing to the donor site on the day of surgery. The implanted area is left uncovered, and you will be given a few paper caps in your post-surgery kit to wear for the first 3 to 4 days. All necessary items for immediate aftercare are included in that kit.

Your Next-Day Check-In

We invite you to return to the clinic the following morning for dressing removal and a quick check-up. If you cannot make it back, no problem—we will provide full instructions so you can manage it yourself at home.

If you have travelled to Melbourne for the procedure, we recommend staying overnight, attending the morning check-up, and travelling home after that. Domestic and international travel is fine from day one post-surgery.

What to Expect in the First 10 Days

Recovery typically takes between four and 10 days. After a standard FUE procedure, you can expect some soreness at the donor site and mild forehead swelling, both of which typically resolve within 5 days. Because the hair is shaved, the procedure may be noticeable for around 10 days.

During this period, you should avoid rubbing the grafts, wearing tight-fitting caps, and shampooing the transplanted area. Your first shampoo is usually on day 10.

With No-Shave or Long Hair FUE, the same 10-day aftercare applies. But as your hair is not shaved, you can return to your normal appearance sooner.

Returning to Work

You can resume desk and office work the following day. For outdoor work or anything involving intense physical activity, we recommend waiting until day 10.
